Curricula across Canada have demonstrated a strong benefit when students conduct hands-on activities that allow them to get a stronger sense of what the world of business is actually like. The emphasis is now on students "trying out" the business world, from running their own in-school businesses, to working with local businesses in their communities. By promoting "business literacy", students can better relate to business news on the local, national and global level.
If you teach entrepreneurship and ethics, then our You're IN Business resource can help. This resource has lesson plans at the ready for students to create their own insurance company and for students to act as the CEO and set the principles, values and codes of conduct for their company. Those are just two examples of the 7 lessons and 21 activities contained in the You're IN Business resource.
To find out how the You're IN Business resource meets the Business Studies curriculum outcomes in your province (see pages 4 to 6 in the resource itself) or select your province on the right.
Relevant excepts have been included from appropriate curricula across the country at the time of publication. Not every subject or provincial curriculum are listed here, please refer to your own subject/provincial curricula for appropriate usage.
